뚜껑에 봉황 머리가 장식된 매병입니다. 봉황의 벼슬, 부리, 눈, 입이 정교하게 표현되었으며, 매병의 복부에는 봉황이 날개를 활짝 펼친 모습이 청화와 유리홍으로 생동감 있게 그려졌습니다. 그 주변에는 화려한 모란꽃과 넝쿨이 어우러져 장식적인 아름다움을 더합니다.

봉황은 고대의 상상의 동물로, 봉황이 나타나 춤추고 우는 것은 성군(聖君)의 출현과 태평성대(太平聖代)의 도래를 알리는 길조로 여겨졌습니다. 또한, 모란은 부귀와 영예를 상징하는 꽃으로, 과거에는 궁궐의 정원에만 심을 정도로 귀하게 여겨졌습니다. 봉황이 ‘새의 왕’, 모란이 ‘꽃의 왕’으로 불리는 만큼, 이 두 가지를 함께 표현한 이 작품은 화려함과 길상의 의미를 더욱 극대화한 걸작이라 할 수 있습니다.

매병의 하단에는 두 줄의 선이 간격을 두고 둘러져 있으며, 그 사이에는 구름을 형상화한 고대 문양인 운기문(雲氣文)이 장식되어 있습니다. 저부(底部)에는 변형된 연판문(變形蓮瓣文)이 새겨져 있어 섬세한 조형미를 더합니다.

梅瓶顶有凤首盖。凤凰的冠、喙、眼、嘴均细致表现，瓶腹上则以青花和釉里红生动描绘一只展翅高飞的凤凰。周围环绕华丽的牡丹花与藤蔓，使其装饰美感更为突出。  

凤凰是古代传说中的神鸟，其出现并翩然起舞、鸣叫，被视为圣君降临、太平盛世到来的吉祥之兆。同时，牡丹象征富贵与荣华，古时甚至只种植于皇宫庭院，以示其尊贵。凤凰被誉为“百鸟之王”，牡丹则被称为“花中之王”，此作品将二者结合，不仅展现了极致的华美，也强化了吉祥寓意，堪称精美绝伦的佳作。  

瓶身下部饰有两道平行的线条，并在其间饰象征祥云的古代纹样—云气纹。近足处饰变形莲瓣纹，增添作品的细腻造型美。

This is a meiping vase with a lid adorned with a phoenix head. The crest, beak, eyes, and mouth of the phoenix are intricately crafted, showcasing exquisite detail. On the vase's body, a phoenix is vividly depicted with its wings spread wide, painted in cobalt blue and copper red, creating a dynamic and lively composition. Surrounding the phoenix are lush peonies intertwined with vines, enhancing the vase's decorative beauty.

The phoenix, an ancient mythical creature, was believed to be an auspicious sign. Its appearance, accompanied by dance and song, was thought to herald the reign of a virtuous ruler and the arrival of an era of peace and prosperity. Meanwhile, the peony, a symbol of wealth and honor, was so highly valued in the past that it was exclusively planted in palace gardens. Since the phoenix is regarded as the "king of birds" and the peony as the "king of flowers," their combination in this masterpiece amplifies both the opulence and auspicious meaning of the artwork.

At the lower part of the vase, two parallel lines encircle the body, with a space in between decorated with cloud motifs, a traditional ancient design symbolizing swirling clouds. The base of the vase is adorned with a variation of the lotus petal motifs, adding an extra touch of delicate craftsmanship.
