사슴은 고대 문화에서 부귀와 장수를 의미합니다. 사슴 록(鹿)과 녹 록(禄)은 발음이 같아 고위 관직을 의미하기도 합니다. 내 외면에 아름다운 보랏빛 자색과 월백색이 어우러져 고풍스러운 분위기를 자아내는 사슴 모양의 균요 향로입니다. 보랏빛 자색은 유약 속 철과 구리가 가마에서 구울 때 요변 현상이 일어나 생기는 색깔입니다. 균요 자기는 가마 속에서 요변 현상을 일으켜 예측할 수 없는 색감을 만들어내며 예술적 가치가 뛰어나며 더욱 아름답게 느껴집니다. 특히 북송 시기의 균요는 희귀하고 귀중한 유물로 평가되며 형태와 요변의 색감을 보아 귀족이나 황족이 사용했던 향로로 추정됩니다.
