원나라 황제나 귀족의 고분에 있던 부장품인 '명기(明器)'로 추정되는 이 매병은 작은 구연부, 짧은 목, 둥근 어깨, 얕고 둥근 굽을 가졌고 굽에는 유약이 발라져 있지 않다. 뚜껑 위에는 구슬 모양 손잡이가 달려있으며 뚜껑 상면에는 당초문, 뚜껑 측면에는 연판문을 그려 넣었다. 굽 아래로 갈수록 수그러드는 몸체 기면에는 기사회생을 상징하는 파초잎과 연못에서 유영하는 물고기가 그려져 있고, 저부(底部)에는 연판문이 연속적으로 배치되어 있다. 전체적으로 유리홍 안료를 사용하여 채색하였다.
据推测，该梅瓶是元代皇帝或贵族墓葬中的陪葬品，即明器。小口，短颈，圆肩，矮圈足，底足无釉。盖上有宝珠形钮，盖面饰唐草纹，盖沿绘莲瓣纹，腹以下渐收，并绘有象征起死回生的芭蕉叶和在莲池中游泳的鱼，底部绘一周莲瓣纹，通体施釉里红。
A meiping vase, presumed to be one of the grave goods excavated in the imperial tombs of the Yuan Dynasty. It has a round shoulder rising from a round, low, unglazed foot to a short neck and a small mouth. The lid is topped with a finial. A scroll is painted on top, and lotus lappets surround the side of the lid. The tapering body is painted with fish and plantains meaning revival, and the lower body is skirted by lotus lappets. The design is painted overall in copper red.
