원나라 시기에 경덕진요(景德鎭窯)에서 제작된 이 유물은 그릇 안에 양각으로 용문이 새겨져 있으며, 바깥쪽 기면에는 유리홍(釉璃紅)으로 용과 구름이 그려진 고족배(高足杯)이다. 유리홍(釉璃紅)은 유약 밑에 붉은 그림이 있다 하여 붙여진 이름으로 유하채(釉下彩) 자기의 일종이다. 붉은 구리로 만든 재료[銅紅料]를 착색제로 써서 회화 무늬를 만든 후 투명한 흰색 유약[透明釉]을 씌운 다음, 고온 환원 상태로 구우면 붉은색 무늬가 나타난다.
이 유물은 일제시대 조선총독부를 포함한 여러 경로를 경유하여 한국에 들어왔으며 현재 다보성 갤러리에 소장되어 있다.
지금까지의 어느 책자나 도록에서도 쉽게 찾아볼 수 없는 귀한 유물로서 2013년도 10월 홍콩 소더비 경매에서 7,964만 홍콩달러(약 110억원)에 낙찰된 명 선덕 청화반홍채해수문 고족배에 못지않은 가치가 있는 것으로 판단된다.
중국 가오안시(高安市) 박물관에 소장되어 있는 원나라 시기 제작된 다른 고족배와 비교했을 때에도 문양이 그보다 더 정교하고 아름다운 것을 확인할 수 있어 매우 귀한 유물이다.
[명 선덕 청화반홍채해수문 고족배]
这是元代时景德镇窑制造的釉里红云龙纹高足杯。内壁阳刻龙纹，外壁用釉里红绘云和龙。釉里红因釉料下方有红色图案而得名，是釉下彩装饰手法之一。是将含有金属铜元素为呈色剂的材料按所需图案纹样绘在瓷器胚胎的表面，再罩以一层无色透明釉，然后入窑在高温还原焰气氛中一次烧成。
此文物是由朝鲜总督府辗转来到这里。迄今为止，在任何册子或图录都很难看到与此相似的文物，2013年10月，香港苏富比的拍卖会上与此相似的高足杯以7964万港币（约110亿韩元）成交，此釉里红高足杯也不逊色于成交文物。
同时与中国高安市博物馆馆藏的元代制造的其他的高足杯比较，可以看到此文物纹样也更精巧与美观。
The stem bowl was produced at Jingdezhen kiln in the Yuan dynasty. It is engraved in relief with a dragon on the interior surface, and the exterior surface is patined with a dragon among clouds in copper red. Underglaze copper red is named for the red pattern under the glaze. It is to paint the material containing metal copper element as the coloring agent on the surface of the porcelain to draw a design, then cover it with a layer of colorless transparent glaze, and then put it into the kiln and fire it in a high-temperature reduction state.
This relic was brought here by the Japanese Government-General of Korea along with various channels. So far, it is difficult to see similar cultural relics in any booklet or catalogue. It is considered as valuable as the "Cobalt-Blue and Iron-Red 'Mythical Beasts' Stemcup," which was sold for HKD 79.64 million (about USD 10.15 billion) at Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong.
Compared with other stem cups made in the Yuan Dynasty collected by the Gao'an Museum in China, it is clearly seen that the pattern of this cultural relic is more delicate and beautiful.
