Greenish-white glazed porcelain figurines of the Ming dynasty, featuring the Eight Immortals adorned with dark blue on collars and sleeves.

The epitaph excavated along with the figurines tells that the present work was produced in the reign of Chenghua Emperor (1447~1487), the 8th emperor of Ming.

Eight Immortals in Taoism symbolize various lifestyles, such as poverty, wealth, nobles, commoners, the old, the young, men, women, etc. According to "Gaiyu congkao (陔余叢考)," written by Zhao Yi in the Qing dynasty, Eight Immortals started to be painted in the Yuan dynasty. <The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea>, painted in the Yuan dynasty, is one of the most famous Eight Immortals paintings, which is in Yongle Gong, a Taoist temple in China. Eight Immortals are often featured with their symbols. Zhong liquan, the leader of the Immortals, holds a plantain fan. Other seven immortals include Zhang Guolao with a bamboo canister, Lu Dongbing with a sword on the back, Li Tieguai with a cane and a gourd bottle, Han Xiangzi with a flute, Cao Guojiu with an official uniform and a thin plate, Lan Caihe with a flower basket, and He Xiangu, the only female immortal, with a ladle.
